Jennifer Rahn was born in Saskatchewan and raised in Alberta. Having an international family, she became a seasoned traveler early on.
“Writing books was one of those things I started when I was little because I was absolutely convinced I could do it. Maurice Sendak did it, so why shouldn't I? Mind you, back then, I was also absolutely convinced that Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno were really the same person, and it was only a matter of time before “I” was bitten by a radioactive spider. I have to give my Mum credit for not disabusing me of the notion that it was perfectly normal for five year olds to write books. So I wrote and wrote, and when I reached my twenties, it finally dawned on me that if I ever wanted anyone other than kind members of my immediate family to appreciate my tales, I would have to approach writing as an art rather than as an indulgence. It took me about three years of participating in a writing workshop to really begin to understand the craft of constructing a novel, and The Longevity Thesis is the result. Jennifer Rahn was born in Saskatchewan and raised in Alberta. Having an international family, she became a seasoned traveler early on.
Her life has always been academic; she holds 2 degrees in Pharmacology, and one in Medical Sciences (Laboratory Medicine and Pathology).
Her earliest surviving fantasy story, written when she was six, is about a pirate who hatched out of an egg and had to be dispatched because of his threatening manner. She enjoys writing as it is a good way to unwind from a long day at the lab.
She is currently involved in cancer research, and has scientific publications in that field. The Longevity Thesis is her first major work of fiction.
