Spring into Spring Book Release Party and the Ask Till Noever Almost Anything Contest
Contest runs from April 5th - April 29th, 2004

Get ready to Spring into Spring at a Book Release Party with a difference!
EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing is pleased to announce their “Spring into Spring Book Release Party” being held on April 30th, 2004 (6:30 pm to 8:30 pm) at the Calgary McNally Robinson Bookstore - 120 8th Avenue SW, Calgary.
First: The Challenge
QUESTION: How do you celebrate the release of 3 new books when one author lives in Australia, one author lives in New Zealand and one author lives in Chicoutimi, Quebec?
SOLUTION: Hold a Spring into Spring Book Release Party featuring readings from the books by prominent Alberta actors, media personalities, and performers.
BONUS: Loyal fans and supporters will be treated to an exciting new type of contest that actually travels all the way to New Zealand! (See details below).
The Spring into Spring Book Release Party will feature readings from:
ORBITAL BURN by Australian author K. A. Bedford, reading by Robert Abbott
DREAMS OF THE SEA* by Quebec author Elisabeth Vonarburg, reading by Susanne
KEAEN by New Zealand author Till Noever, reading by Robert Woodbury
* Inside scoop: Dreams of the Sea has just been announced as a finalist for the prestigious Book of the Year (science fiction category) Award presented by literary magazine ForeWord, recognizing excellence in writing.

Second: The Contest
After Robert Woodbury reads from KEAEN, everyone will have an opportunity to enter the “Ask Till Noever Almost Anything Contest”. Once they have heard the reading, or read the sample chapter, participants can submit a question to be potentially selected and included in our interview with Till Noever.
Then, it's on to New Zealand!
After the Spring into Spring Book Release Party, 10 questions will be chosen by a panel of judges, and sent to Till Noever in New Zealand. These questions will become part of a taped interview with Till, author of KEAEN.
Till’s interview tape will be shipped from New Zealand back to Canada and will be viewed for the first time as part of our Summer Solstice Fantasy Fest, June 19th, 2004 (which will be held on the roof top terrace of the McNally Robinson Bookstore - 120 8th Avenue SW, Calgary). The top 10 interview question finalists will be revealed at that time and the winners will each receive an EDGE prize pack. The grand prize winner (for the “best interview question asked”) will receive a hand made replica of Tahlia’s dagger* (as described in the book). Winners’ names will be announced on the Edge website.
(Reminder: For those not able to attend the Spring into Spring release party, just read the sample chapter of KEAEN and submit your question online. The contest starts on April 5th and closes April 29th, 2004)
Third: Special Sneak Peeks!
For those wondering about forthcoming releases: Spring into Spring Book Release Party guests will get a special sneak peek preview of EVEN the STONES by Marie Jakober, and THE APPARITION TRAIL by Lisa Smedman.
Marie will whet the literary taste buds of the audience as she offers the first pre - release sampling of her powerful historical fantasy. Marie received numerous awards and acclaim for The Black Chalice, published by EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing in 2000. Devoted Jakober fans will be able to order advance copies of EVEN THE STONES, being released in May.
A prerelease snippet from THE APPARITION TRAIL will be brought to life by Calgary’s own film and stage actor Bill Baksa, as he takes the audience back into the 19th century, a time of Magic, Mystery and the Mounties. With such well known characters as Marmaduke Grayburn, Chief Piapot and Sam Steele, Lisa Smedman has created an exciting alternate history adventure about a Canada that might have been.
And Finally!
To tie it all together will be music by Dr. J, presenting contemporary folk and blues for the occasion.
Come Spring into Spring with this lively literary celebration.
